Footsteps to the present stage (2019, going back to 2014)
The series begins with the long-term 'climate' history of the galaxy and its causes. It then narrows the focus to 5 million years, followed by 50 years, and looks 15 years into the future, all in reference to the coming Ice Age in the 2050s. It closes with a focus on how we need to prepare our world to meet the Ice Age Challenge in term of infrastructures of Science, Water, Energy, and Culture.
This series explores the dynamics of the boundary zone to the next Ice Age that we are in where all the dynamics of the historic climate cycles have diminished to the point that a recovery is no longer possible. Part 3, The Amazing Sun Literacy explores the dynamics of the Sun also in terms of the diminishing, lagging, and 'missing' solar magnetic polarity reversals and slowing solar cycles.
The Ice Age is a digital phenomenon. But what does this mean? It means that the transition is not gradual. Ice Ages are on/off events, and they are incomparable with anything in known experience. The last Ice Age yielded an estimated world population of one to ten million. We are seven billion people living on Earth, while the basis for our living, our agricultural food production is already crumbling, even while we are still in the boundary zone. We need to build us a secure New World, but society's current response is gross indifference and small-minded denial. How do we get out of this trap?
