also a part of a special-focus exploration series
The cultural celebration on the world stage of the sublime human spirit prior to the 2016 U.S. Election, started in Syria with the liberation of Palmyra and continued in China at the 2016-G20 summit. It was followed up in May 2017 in Beijing at the "Belt and Road" forum, which President Trump did not attend.
Part 3 of the epic series "Yes, (Virginia) The Russians did Hack"
A dance from Peter Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker ballet was performed on the world stage at the gala event at the close of the "Belt and Road Forum" in Beijing-China, on May 14, 2017.
The dance of the flowers in the land of the Sugar Plumb Fairy was performed. The Nutcracker Ballet presents a significant story, especially for modern time, through St. Petersburg choreographed ending by the Mariinsky Theater. The ballet ends with a magical dream. The dream that promises ever greater splendors for the protagonist, a child, as the child dreams on. But in the Mariinsky choreography the dreaming ends abruptly, and the child knows that the splendor was but a dream. However, she finds herself not sad for it, but enriched, as she sees the dream as a vision for a potential that exists in the real world for her to create with a bright future ahead. She dances with this vision of something profound as a possibility.
The political message for
presenting the dance seems to be that dreams can come true when one takes the
dreams past the fairy tale landscape and consciously regards them as images of
what can come true in the real world by the transforming of the world into a
place beyond dreams. The political message appears to be that this is precisely
what the "Belt and Road Initiative" by China, for worldwide economic
development, aims to accomplish, and has begun to unfold already in the real
world. The message may also have been intended for the newly elected U.S.
President Donald Trump, who aims to make America great again in the eyes of its
people, which is best accomplished by the realization of America's potential for
uplifting the world, rather than aiming to dominate it.
