Sublime Science

by Rolf A. F. Witzsche (Feb. 1, 2008)

Prologue

In 1866 Mary Baker Eddy discovered in the context of her struggling with a near fatal personal tragedy, what she termed "the divine Principle of scientific mental healing," which she later named Christian Science.

Being incapacitated by a severe injury from a fall on an icy street, while laying in what was deemed to be her death-bed, she struggled with the realization that the great healing miracles performed by Christ Jesus in ancient days could not have been miracles, because miracles don't happen in real world. She reasoned that they must have resulted from the effect of a recognized principle, which like any principle is valid for all times and all situations. By mentally struggling on this platform of deep searching reasoning she found herself suddenly well and stepped away from her deathbed and opened to the door the clergyman who had come to bury her.

With this healing a period of discovery began, of the science involved. The path of discovery included the public practicing of her science by healing others, and of course also efforts to document its principles and to teach them to students, which made her science widely accessible and available in future ages.

In the course of the 44 years following her discovery she established the Massachusetts Metaphysical Institute where she was teaching her science of metaphysical healing. She also she wrote the textbook of it, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and later founded a church to advance practical healing utility of scientific metaphysics for the benefit of all mankind. In her 86th year she relocated her household to Boston and founded an international newspaper there, the Christian Science Monitor, with the mission to "bless all mankind and to injure none."

All of these major aspects of her 44 years of achievements remain known today, generally, and acknowledged to some degree, while her greatest achievement, which constitute the largest in terms of its significance remains obscured and is rarely even recognized to exist. It is not even recognized within in her church, for the simple reason that the greatest part of her achievements is not a doctrine, but is a platform for the scientific discovery and further development of the dimension of our spiritual perception and its underlying science.

The most critical aspect of Mary Baker Eddy's work thus comes to light as a pedagogical platform of divine Science that she has extensively outlined and built all of her works on, which itself is loosely modeled after the biblical city foursquare described in the last pages of Revelation 21. Mary Baker Eddy created all of her major works in conformity with this pedagogical structure that she uniquely created, possibly primarily for herself and for the later continuing development in society. Thus she left the scene wide open for the general process of discovery to take hold in society and to cause the science involved to unfold its substance by the process of discovery in which it was born. If she had published her science foundation as a doctrine, she would have closed the door to its continued development and application. The general focus of her time was on doctrine, which she also provided. Scientific spiritual development wasn't an issue that society could respond to in her time. It took forty years after her passing that the first glimpses of her underlying development structure came to light, and it took another forty years after that before the vast dimension of it was finally discovered and brought into the open, and even then it is officially deemed not to exist. Scientific spiritual development remains to the present day a subject of no great concern. Society has becomes accustomed to be told what to think.

Mary Baker Eddy's science breakthrough was the result of a discovery. Logically, its continuing unfolding would have to proceed from the same basis on which it was created, the process of discovery. In order to facilitate this process she created all of her major works in structural conformity with her extensively outlined all-encompassing pedagogical platform and its structure. Her discovered science, Christian Science, its textbook, her church, and the concept of Church itself, even divine Science, are all but constituent elements on her wide pedagogical platform for a science that may be termed Divine Science.

The clearest term that comes to mind to describe the nature of it, is "Sublime Science."

The following article is designed to present an overview of the outlined pedagogical structure and to present certain discoveries made within its context by following the outline that she has provided, and applying it as closely as possible. The article is therefore designed to presented an example of the resulting pedagogical structure in its nature as an open door to endless discoveries. It is presented, not as a dictum of an institution, but as an individual researcher's invitation to anyone to ponder the vast scope of what Mary Baker Eddy has laid before us.

The outlined pedagogical structure

On the surface there is nothing there to be seen, though the outline is not hidden. It exists right in the open, where it had remained for a hundred years, waiting for the process of discovery to open the door to its unfolding.

The first footsteps of breaking the ice were taken in the 1940s by a teacher of Christian Science in England, named John Doorly, who was promptly excommunicated for his daring to pen the door to discovery beyond doctrine, to something that could no longer be owned by anyone. The resulting suppression stopped the process of discovery for a period, whereby John Doorley's work remained stalled and became a new doctrine, which it remains so to this day.

The next steps in breaking the ice were taken around the early 1980s by a Christian Scientist, Howard Meredith, a professional educator and Christian Science researcher in North Vancouver, Canada. This time, however, the door to discovery remained open. With this open door a rich period of discoveries began, unfolding with individual work being carried out by probably quite a few people in different places. What is presented here is an individual outcome of this unfolding.

At the leading edge of science one always stands alone and sovereign. In this case only Mary Baker Eddy's outline for her structure remains fixed, but not so does its unfolding. As modern mathematics demonstrates, there is no limit to the unfolding of an idea. For example, the Pythagorean Theorem is a single profound idea of absolute Truth in geometry, for which over the centuries several hundred patterns of geometric principles and interrelationships have been discovered, each of which illustrates absolutely that the theorem is correct, and  thereby adds individually to the fuller appreciation of the rich diversity of geometric ideas. Mary Baker Eddy's fundamentally outlined pedagogical structure opens up the same wide horizon.

The need for pedagogical structures is illustrated by the complex nature of Mary Baker Eddy's scientific definition for the term "God," which unfolded during her own period of discovery. Allow me a brief illustration.

"God" defined by Mary Baker Eddy, in scientific terms

America's most advanced scientist in the spiritual realm, Mary Baker Eddy (1821-1910), the renowned spiritual healer, had struggled with this question of how to define God, for four decades after she had made her initial discovery in 1866 of what she called "the divine Principle of scientific mental healing."

In 1884, she defined God in the manner shown below, presented in the glossary of her textbook of the science that she had discovered and was developing, which she later called Christian Science - a science focused on spiritual healing.

Here is her 1884 definition of God:

God: I AM. All-knowing, All-seeing, All-acting, All-loving, All-wise, and eternal. Principle. Soul, Spirit, Life, Truth, Love, Substance, and Intelligence.

As over the following years the development work progressed, she must have recognized that there is something wrong with the above initial definition.

In 1901, in the 214th edition of her textbook, the prefix "All" no longer appears capitalized, indicating thereby that the attached terms reflect an essential quality of God, rather than being an aspect of the identity of God. In the same context Mary Baker Eddy changed the phrase "I AM" to "The great I AM" and added the term "Mind" behind "Principle."

Then in the years following 1901, up to 1910, after further revisions were made, the terms "Substance" and "Intelligence" no longer appeared capitalized either, so that in the end only the terms, "Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love" remained capitalized, together with "I AM," which fully capitalized stands as a title.

By presenting the terms "intelligence" and "substance" in the non-capitalized form, she defined these terms likewise as qualities that are inherently reflected in all the other aspects by which God is manifest in the Universe.

Since the non-capitalized group of terms match in number the capitalized group, it is interesting to put the two together side by side, with the latest non-capitalized terms serving as headers for each group. The result is the following:

substance

 intelligence

The great I AM

all-knowing

all-seeing

all-acting

all-wise

all-loving

eternal

Principle

Mind

Soul

Spirit

Life

Truth

Love

It is interesting to note the horizontal interrelationship between the two sets of terms.

Tragically, the vast majority of Christian Scientists tend to recognize only the seven capitalized terms and sees them standing in isolation, while ignoring the rest. In doing this the entire concept becomes lost. And this tragedy is not confined to the scientific perception of God, only. Consequently, in order to further the development of a sense of reality, Divine Science, requires many more of these types of structures, unfolding together into one all-embracing structure.

The end result of the above correlation is by far the grandest definition for God that I know to exist, a God that is a reality that is reflected in the Universe on every level, from the smallest to the greatest, including in man.
(the correlation presented here is a part of the general article: What is God that Man is an Expression of?)

Mary Baker Eddy presents the following as if to summarize, under the topic: Ideas and identities

The infinite has no beginning. This word
beginning is
employed to signify
the only, - that is, the eternal verity and
unity of God and man, including the universe. The creative
Principle - Life, Truth, and Love - is God. The universe reflects
God. There is but one creator and one creation. This creation
consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and their identities,
which are embraced in the infinite Mind and forever reflected.
These ideas range from the infinitesimal to infinity, and the
highest ideas are the sons and daughters of God.

Mary Baker Eddy's foursquare structure includes all of her major works

In the last pages of the last chapter of her textbook, the chapter The Apocalypse, Mary Baker Eddy speaks of the biblical city foursquare. A foursquare structure, of course, has 16 elements. It is amazing that it took a hundred years to discover that all of her major works are divided into 16 segments or multiples thereof, which relates them all to this one central foursquare structure and its definitions.

The 10 major works of Mary Baker Eddy that are shown to be structurally associated with the foursquare structure are the following:

  1. Her textbook on Christian Science, made up of 16 chapters.
  2. Her presentation of the Lord's Prayer, divided into 16 stanzas.
  3. Her illustrated poem, Christ and Christmas, a book of 16 verses and associated paintings.
  4. Her Church Manual, structured into 16 segments.
  5. Her Platform of Christian Science, made up of 32 statements (2x16).
  6. Her glossary definition for the term, Mortal Mind, divided into 16 parts.
  7. Her textbook-chapter, Recapitulation, made up of 24 questions and answers (1 1/2x16).
  8. Her 26 standard topics for the Bible Lessons (which she defined for the church services repeated twice a year - 26 weeks). The chapter, Recapitulation, serves as an interface to them.
  9. Her 26-part definition for the term, Adam. Her chapter, Recapitulation, again serves as an interface to them.
  10. In addition her entire Glossary of the textbook can be seen as a structure of 144 definitions of terms (9x16=144).

By this association, every major work that Mary Baker Eddy has created comes to light as evidently designed to function as a constituent of that central foursquare structure reflecting the city foursquare from Revelation 21, which thereby becomes a pedagogical structure.

Mary Baker Eddy didn't actually dictate how the foursquare structure is to be defined in itself, but she did provide a number of 4-part sequences that can be used to define the foursquare structure in terms of four rows and in terms of four columns.

When seen in terms of four rows, for example, an immensely important scientific element comes to light in the development of the four rows, which may be termed, the moral line. So, let's examine this particular aspect of the foursquare structure in terms of recognizing the structure as being made up of four rows, arranged into four levels, in which the moral line comes to light.

The Science of the Moral Line

Step 1 - Definition for the Rows

When seen in terms of four horizontal rows, each of the rows can be seen to pertain to a specific cardinal point, of which Mary Baker Eddy defines a set of four:

Its four cardinal points are:

first, the Word of Life, Truth, and Love;
second, the Christ, the spiritual idea of God;
third, Christianity, which is the outcome of the divine Principle of the Christ-idea in Christian history;
fourth, Christian Science, which to-day and forever interprets this great example and the great Exemplar. (S&H p.577)

Step 2 - What is reality?

Mary Baker Eddy defines four types of mental focus in her "scientific translation of immortal Mind (1), and mortal mind (2-4)."

1. The divine focus: God, divine synonyms; Man, divine image; Idea, divine reflection.
2. The spiritual focus: Reality, understanding.
3. The moral focus:
Transitional qualities, evil believes disappearing.
4. The physical focus: Unreality, depravity.

The first concept is defined in her textbook under the heading of "scientific translation of IMMORTAL MIND," and is immediately followed with her "scientific translation of MORTAL MIND" which she presents in the textbook as developing from the bottom up whereby "mortal mind" is loosing its mortal nature as it gravitates towards the real nature of mind, reflecting the real, divine Mind.

The above 4-step translation is really a translation of our perception of reality. The top row represents absolute reality - the divinely real, the divine Spirit being manifest as reality - and the further we get away this, the deeper we get into the mod hole where nothing is real and all that appear real is imaginary, a tragic illusion, a deception not dealt with in spiritual growth. At the spiritual level, the Christ level, the level of Science, we come face to face with the divine reality and begin to see it reflected in human existence as the reality of our being.

The concept of an evil mind is not legitimate in divine Science, regardless of the appearance to the contrary. Mind cannot unfold the opposite quality of its perfection and divine nature and engender contraries, for then the Universe would not exist. The universe contains not a single element in its design that is contrary to itself. Opposites in Principle cannot exists. The duality of good and evil is purely mythological and contains not a single thread of reality. Infinite Mind can have no cognizance of unreality, which would be a contradiction of Principle whereby the Universe would collapse if such a contradiction was found in the real would.

Nevertheless the spiritual healer needs to consider the various aspects of the mud hole mentality, so-called, for its mythology spreads like a fungus and deceives the unaware and enslaves them with the games that are played in the mud hole. Healing begins with one becoming aware that the chains that bind mankind with disease and evil intentions, and tragic consequences, are not divinely real, but are mythological in nature and therefore can be shed legitimately and naturally. In divine Science, divine Mind alone is the cause of all that is real, which mankind is designed to reflect consciously, thereby taking on the quality of a producer and creator, producing and creating resources for its living that don't exist naturally. Man's origin therefore is in Mind, with a connection to divine Mind that has never been severed or can be annulled or be repealed. Mind is one and has no opposite. All is Mind. Mary Baker Eddy states this fact in countless different ways, such as under the topic, "Mind the only cause."

Step 3 - The moral line

This idea behind the second set of descriptors (2-4) is extremely important. It divides the foursquare structure into three zones.

The top row remains defined as the divine zone, the zone of immortal Mind, divine Spirit and its manifest in all that is the divinely real.

The remaining three rows are divided into an upper and lower zone by the moral line. This two zone layout is clearly visible on the tablet that is shown in the lap of the woman in the rocking chair in the painting Christmas Eve in Christ and Christmas.

The Moral Line

The importance of the moral line is that it divides the spiritual world, the world of civilization, from the sewer of the imaginary world where nothing is real through great tragedies unfold there, which may be termed the sub-moral world. This all-important moral line serves as a kind of firewall that keeps the creatures of the sewer from spoiling the "kingdom of heaven."

The point is that the natural inclination of humanity is to live above the moral line, as high above as possible, as close as one can reach humanly to the divine zone where mankind comes to light in its divine image, a divine idea reflecting God. That this upwards trend is the natural trend is illustrated by the founding of the American Republic far from the shores of the imperial world. The pilgrims who came to America did so in order to create a free society as high above the moral line in the spiritual domain as possible. For this ideal great hardships were endured and sacrifices made. It was natural for the pioneers of humanity to cast their hopes far away from the sewers of empire and closer to God.

The moral line is a firewall that no sewer creature can escape across, because the closer a sewer creature is approaching the moral line from the sewer, the more it becomes impelled to let go of its sewer enterprises, the enterprises of empire expressed in looting, stealing, lying, destroying, and making war for such ends. The moral line makes the creatures human and fit to pass across. In the sewer is where we find all the creatures of empire; the kings and queens, and emperors, including many presidents, legislatures and senates, end even large parts of society, who have identified themselves as such by their commitments to the sewer enterprises.

The moral line is also a warning line, because being far from the divine light, the sewer is a dangerous place. The sewer has many names, although the term, empire, combines almost the whole ground, and as history has proved, empire is inherently self-destructive. No empire ever survived long. And whatever society finds itself attracted into this sewer follows the same fate. Without the divine qualities being expressed, civilization simply disintegrates. This can be the fate of entire nations, as history has shown, and even the tragedy of the world as a whole. America is presently on the fast track of realizing this self-imposed fate. As a champion in the fight against fascism, America once flourished, but when it became the champion of empire, wielding the atomic bomb and other weapons of mass-destruction, it dropped below the moral line destroying in its course many a nation, but mostly itself on this course.

The world below the moral line, far from the light of God, is also a world of disease and all kinds of mythological traps, which nevertheless Christian Science can reach and bring light into. In Christian Science the human mind is not a healing agent, but the divine Mind is. The human mind, being trapped itself into countless errors and false perceptions is not a fit agent to heal anything. Christian Science aids the struggling heart to lift itself above the moral line to higher ground than the one in which the tragedy of disease is grounded. There, healing comes naturally.

Some additional groups defining the four levels

Mary Baker Eddy presents three additional groups of related concepts of four terms each that all pertain to the four levels, or cardinal points, that describe the four rows.

The first two groups are groups of glossary terms.

1 Day Heaven
2 Morning Kingdom of heaven
3 Evening Earth
4 Night Hell

The third group is set of four terms found in the glossary in the definition for the term "good."  They are:

1. omnipotence.
2.  omniscience.
3.  omnipresence.
4. omni action.

Much healing is needed in the sub-moral domain, and the active impetus there can only be divine. The human mind, being tied to too many mythological concepts, is not a healing agent. It is the cause for much of mankind finding itself 'living' in the sub-moral domain. The sub-moral domain is a busy place where countless types of insanity rule by which the wealth of society is being privatized and drained away with ever-greater portions of humanity being left out in the cold to starve to death.

The sub-moral domain can be likened to a scene where children play near the banks of a river in pools of mud making mud pies, and piling the mud up into imaginary castles. The scene becomes a tragic scene for those who refuse to grow up. Unfortunately there are many of those now, populating the mud holes, who refuse to grow it. Some have become civic leaders, and business leaders, bankers, billionaires, thieves, and presidents and kings, still playing in the mud holes where nothing is real, where what they lay their hands on is purely imaginary, a wonderland of dreams, which unfortunately does not meet society's real needs.

Far too often an entire country gets dragged into the mud hole by these 'chidren' or by the masters of the mud hole who control them, the masters of empire. Entire nations become trapped there that way, 'inspired' to love the mud-hole enterprises as they become increasingly more greedy, more fascist, more evil, intensely war-focused, and deadly to all the participants and those nearby.

That's where we are today, as we have been in all the times that are known in history as the Dark Ages. We have seen in history entire nations dying in their mud hole, playing fascist games that no one can survive. The game that Hitler was taught to play by the masters of empire, for example, had tragic consequences that Germany and much of the world has not yet recovered from. While Hitler's Nazi machine was eventually crushed by a global effort, the fascism that Hitler was taught to exemplify, lived on and has become itself a global scourge.

The moral line that Mary Baker Eddy has pioneered, and our divine resources for healing.

The escape from the mud hole is simple. All that the 'children' need to do, who are trapped there, is to look up and climb out of their mud hole that they deem to be civilization. They will naturally do this when they recognize that their perceived 'civilization' is a deception. This action, for many, became their first real action towards becoming men and women, discovering their native qualities of God's creating - their innate reason, perspicacity, creativity, productivity, and scientific cognition.

Scientific cognition is discouraged in the mud hole. It is however a native quality of our common humanity, reflecting the omni action of God that never fades or stops, or is never less than all-supportive. Spiritual action is not possible for mankind, it is its most natural action even at the lowest level in the deepest mud hole, because spiritual action, or omni action, is a basic characteristic of God.

If the omni action characteristic is basic for God, can it be any less basic for us as God's reflection? The original is mirrored in its reflection, or as Mary Baker Eddy has put it, "Principle and its idea is one" (p.465). In the real Universe mankind is well equipped with the power to climb out of its mud hole of deception; escape from the sewers these holes have become, sewers of empire, to reach up for the moral line and then reach above it.

No one can really linger at the moral line. God won't allow us to fall asleep there. The spiritual nature of ourselves is far greater than that of a 'default being' living in the mediocrity of a sleep-like existence, devoid of the divine dynamics, the creative and productive animus that God is, and which is ever present where God is reflected - which includes all.

God's omnipresence leaves no room for mediocrity or dreaming, much less for any dream walking in the mud holes. God's omnipresence knocks on the door of consciousness and bids us to open the door to higher ground, and to open it wide, and decisively. (This is what the painting Truth verses Error illustrates, which is located at the moral line.)

When one does open the door, one finds the higher ground to be intensely scientific - not intellectually scientific, but spiritually scientific. Intellectually, anything can be justified, as Hitler's beloved philosopher Nietzsche exemplifies. Real Science is spiritual. Christ represents Science, the spiritual idea of God; of Truth; of all that is real; of the world as it really is outside of the mud hole.

God can only be omniscient in nature, the foundation of Science.  Since this is so, can mankind be less than scientific at its very heart and soul. Whoever rejects Science is on a course of self-denial, a sign that the individual is harboring an attachment to the mud hole, which many are reluctant to let go, and to let go completely. Science, however, confers the power to break those ties to the illusionary world of sleep walking and dreaming. Ultimately we find no satisfaction in anything less than the reflected omniscience of God becoming manifest in our living. Thus we let it be the foundation for our world.

In the mud hole the game is about power. The power that kings seek as they play in their mud hole, who actually do wield power there over their imaginary creations, though this is not real power. It is nothing more than dominion. Dominion has no place in the divine order. In the real Universe where "Principle and its idea is one," there is no dominion of one over another possible. The term Dominion implies a denial of God. Real power unfolds in divine reflection. A divine idea reflects all the power of principle. That is how the Universe operates. And this applies to us all. On this platform man is a powerful being. We would have no power to create or produce anything, and to up uplift and enrich our world, without God's omnipotence that powers the whole Universe, which is also reflected also in us.
See: What is God that Man is an Expression of?

God, omnipotence, is our home and heaven, and our native dwelling place. We are not truly home at any other level, but there is a path outlined for us for the claiming of our divine Heritage. And it is high time that we do this and become familiar with it.

The moral line is critical indeed.

If we remain stuck in the mud hole we may destroy the whole planet in our sleep walk and dreamy existence, committing follies that have evermore devastating consequences as our material technologies become more and more powerful, which we indeed require to meet our physical needs, but which can also be abused. We now have the technological capability to destroy all life on the planet, and the mud kings have amply demonstrated their unrestrained willingness to to unleash these kinds of horrors against mankind. The consequences have so far remained carefully hidden in order to protect the mud-pool games.

For example, the tiny bit of depleted uranium poisoning of the air with radioactive uranium dust from the use of Deplete Uranium weapons has already caused alarming consequences. The radioactive particles that are dispersed with the weapons use are smaller than the wavelength of light, by which they are invisible to all but electron-beam microscopes. To date, upwards to 5 million kilograms of uranium has been vaporized into the air, with a large portion of this pollution now being distributed throughout the northern hemisphere where these weapons have been used in war. Having become a part of the air that we all breathe, the tiny radiation emitters become inhaled and lodged in the body where their nucleonic charges damage living cells causing a range of 90-plus diseases, primarily cancers and diabetes. Six-fold increases in lung cancer rates has been recorded in the USA shortly after the Iraq war, and the worldwide cases of diabetis-2 have jumped from 30 million cases to 230 million cases. In the same time frame we have also seen such exotic happenings as the mass-death of bees throughout the northern hemisphere; the onset of the exotic bird flu; the general reduction of the insect population, and consequently a reduction of the bird population.

It might even be that the current pine beetle infestation in North America, which is ten times worse than any previously known and is expected to destroy 80% of North America's western pine forests, may have its origin in the radioactive uranium pollution of the air in the northern hemisphere, as the result of it having devastated the beetle's natural predators. Vast pine forests have been growing in North America for thousands of years, suddenly in the postwar years we see this mass devastation happening, coincident with a whole range of devastating events in the postwar period relative to the mass use of uranium in bombs and munitions in the theatres of war, primarily in the wars against Yugoslavia, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Has anybody ever wondered what happened to all the songs of the birds that used to fill the mornings in spring and summer twenty years ago? The spring has become almost silent now in comparison with the late 1980s. The bird's voices have diminished together with the birds. We are now closer to the "silent spring" that Rachel Carson wrote about in her political book with the same title, for which the world's most effective and safest pesticide, DDT, was banned.  Except it wasn't the DDT pesticide that has silenced the birds, since it wasn't allowed anymore even at the cost of the subsequent devastation of human life by the tens of millions from malaria against which the most effective defense had been taken off the shelves by the ban. Instead, the silent spring resulted from the radioactive pollution of the air from uranium weapons, but this tragedy the mud masters refuse to disallow, even while they are prepared to use a hundred times more of the same weapons, which sit pre-positioned on the ground.

Just consider that the trivial 5 million kilograms of uranium that have been used in weapons so far, may be increased a hundred-fold to judge by the stockpiles of weapons that are already laid up. The result of those games of the mud kings are fast becoming so huge that they threaten to be no longer survivable, considering the numerous consequences.
See: The Depleted Uranium Time Bomb

It becomes essential therefore for society to vacate the offices that currently occupied by the mud-king, of which there are now a great many. A great deal of healing is needed there in the mud hole to get the people dwelling in the mud to higher ground where they are no longer damaging to civilization, and may even become supportive of it.

A great deal of development along this line needed, and is needed now, and this not only to stop the specter of war that may destroy the world, but also to stop the grand-thievery looting in the financial derivatives gambling that the taxpayers are presently called on to bail out at the tune of tens of trillions of dollars while the productive industries are being collapsed by this insanity around the world, which has already bankrupted almost all U.S. State governments and many nations, and has thrown countless millions of families out of their homes with foreclosure actions. This immense insanity has all by itself the potential to bring down the economic house of mankind and reduce the world population to less than two billion, as the mud kings cry they want to 'achieve.' This tragic potential is real and immediate, with the distance of the resulting crisis now being measured in weeks, or months at the most, rather than in years as in earlier times. The need for healing is therefore 'acute' and immediate, and supercritical. Fortunately the healing is also relatively easy to accomplish on a scientific basis above the moral level.
See the alternative to: economic breakdown

The critical factor is that the world cannot afford a further loss of its creative and productive potential, especially with the return of the Ice Age on the near horizon. The Ice Age cycles that have recurred with clockwork regularity is a feature of the Universe we live in. We have to live with that, and we have the power to do so if we utilize the capacities we have as human beings. The return of the Ice Age doesn't have to cause a crisis, because the technological means are within reach to feed the world from indoor agriculture and to relocate the northern nations whose territory becomes uninhabitable by the resulting increasing glaciation. From a human standpoint this protective response is possible and natural, but not from a standpoint that is rooted in the mud holes. The return of the Ice Age can be faced by creating a great humanist, technological, and economic renaissance, greater than anything yet imagined, which we have the capacity to create, once the mud holes have been vacated. But this the masters of the mud hole, the masters of empire, won't allow to be even contemplated, for the reason that a renaissance would threaten the mud hole. For this very reason hardly anything is ever said in public about the coming Ice Age. The song is about global warming instead that has been turned into another cash cow for the mud kings. The fact is that the global warming hype was started in 1974 when the scientific community became concerned about the need for preparing for the return of the Ice Age. Their concern was brutally hijacked and turned upside down.
See the need to heal the Ice Age collapse

Divine Science requires our native scientific sense for it to be understood and acknowledged.

Mary Baker Eddy's four terms surrounding the moral line, omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, and omni action, can be seen to define our healing resources in the form of qualities of God that relate to specific levels and are by their nature of the utmost importance on the present stage of the world. (The four terms are listed in their original sequence.)

Without a keen scientific sense the current mud hole is seen as paradise

The 'children' who are taught to play in the mud hole, are taught to love to be trapped there. They are taught by the imperial machine. They are taught to sing the song: Isn't it wonderful here? No one has to work to earn a living here. Isn't glorious becoming rich by looting others? It's far simpler just to steal from one another than creating riches that uplift all. The 'children' are taught to sing, isn't it marvelous being millionaires and billionaires and trillionaires, living without a care in the world? They are taught to sing in the mud hole, this is the best there is, it can't get any better. Privatize everything into the mud hole, because what you see here is all there is, folks.

Of course the mud hole is far too small for the whole world to fit into. This means, folks, that 90% of mankind has no legitimate place to be in a world that is too small now, who should therefore lay themselves down to die. All the mud politicians of the new American empire now preach this song, proclaiming that 90% of mankind has no legitimate place to be or right to exist, and therefore must be made to understand that they must die. "We are a society of the rich now, with no room for the little people," is how the song goes.

Oh, isn't it grand to live in this mud hole? Well, is it?

Mary Baker Eddy already understood hundred years ago that it isn't, and what the challenge is for this age to come to terms with, which she has symbolized with the moral line. As if in response she has placed the royal crown, the symbol of the mud hole, at the center of her seal in 1903, evidently to symbolize the depth of the challenge before mankind, which so far no one really wants to even acknowledge as a challenge, much less provide a healing for. Of course this refusal is choking society's normal development path. Nevertheless, society has no option but to respond to what is divinely true, regardless of what is perceived by it as true in the slimy world of the mud hole.

Benjamin Franklin was once asked by some people what kind of a country he was creating for America. His answer is quoted to have been, "I give you a Republic if you can keep it. Mary Baker Eddy might have answered to a similar question, "I give you the greatest healing science ever created on the face our planet, if you can develop it in your spiritual understanding."

A political economist would likely see the answer in terms of "Patriots versus Traitors," as some have put it in many a writing, but Mary Baker Eddy says no. She says, this must be seen in terms of a process of "Truth versus Error," (as I have already indicated earlier). The answer therefore implies a scientific process of distinguishing the real world from the unreal, regardless of what appears to be the mental state of the mud-hole dwellers and their kings. The scientific process of "Truth verses Error" is in real terms the most liberating process there is, including in the physical economic sense. Thus, Mary Baker Eddy has placed the painting Truth versus Error right onto the moral line, which is fast becoming the most critical line for modern civilization. Far more is at stake here than is generally recognized or even imagined.

With a keen scientific sense the limits fall away

The higher we step above the moral line, the greater becomes our productive potential to create a rich, healthy, and free civilization. At the divine level, the top level, the potential is so great that it challenges the imagination. Just look at the natural world that illustrates the potential we truly have as creative beings. Consider the structure of an atom that the Universe has created. It is a construct that is 100,000 times larger than sum of its parts. An atom represents a 100,000-fold gain in creative economics. Can you imagine this as a model for our infrastructure building to create a new world in real terms?

Achieving a 100,000-fold gain in humanist potential

Yes, this potential is real and can be realized through free high quality housing as a starting platform. The current housing crisis that has become critical in most parts of the world, can be easily resolved on such a platform. It is technologically and economically feasible to create high quality housing in automated processes, and to do this so efficiently and inexpensively that the produced housing can be given away for free as an investment by society into itself. High quality housing is key to a society's humanist self-development. Homelessness and slum living must be seen as a huge waste of society's most precious asset, which is itself; its human potential. A 100,000 fold gain of society's real wealth in living can be easily achieved along this line, and should be pursued immediately to meet a need that is more than critical already.

The easily possible and free high-quality housing will most likely be produced by the millions of units, once this freedom that we already have is realized. The housing units will most likely be manufactured out of molten basalt in ejection molding processes. Basalt is a finely grained stone that becomes liquid at 1,400 degrees Celsius. It is nearly as hard as diamond; none abrasive; none corrosive; stronger than steel by weight; totally fire and rot resistant, and is a better insulator than asbestos. Building materials can't get any better than this. And best of all, the basalt sits process-ready on the ground in near infinite quantities. The reason why it is not widely used is the lack of nuclear power, or electrical systems beyond nuclear power, to make the high-temperature process heat possible for large scale automated processes.

One this kind of wave of development starts, which is immediately possible, it will revolutionize all forms of manufacturing and uplift the standard of living across the world where unemployment, crime, and poverty currently reign. The potential for general manufacturing is so great that we might see the $100 car in our lifetime, powered by hydrogen fuels running a gas turbine feeding a hydraulic propulsion system. The current automobile production is far too primitive, expensive, and labor intensive to be continued much longer. Humanity is not born to labor in drudgery, but to live as creators and producers of automated systems that take the drudgery out of production.

A 100,000-fold gain in electric energy production appears to be also at our 'fingertips.'

No, I am not talking about the much hoped for nuclear fusion power, which is inherently not achievable. Nor will we see a massive increase in uranium based nuclear power, which is likewise inefficient. Thorium in liquid salt reactors provides a vastly greater energy resource than anything under the Sun to date, short of the electric power that powers the Sun itself, supplied by galactic and intergalactic electric currents.  The Earth, being in an orbit near the Sun, is afloat in an untapped, near infinite, see of electric-energy, which when tapped into as a resource will largely obsolete all other electric energy systems. Of course, the science behind this resource is currently forbidden. It is being blocked by the masters of the mud hole who rake in huge profits from the oil industry. But this will likely change in the not-so-distant future.

The Electric Universe and Absolute Power - Solar Power)

A 100,000-fold gain in food-production efficiency.

Right now the world would celebrate if a doubling of the word's food supply could be achieved, which is easily possible since the vast majority of farming is done under absolutely primitive conditions. Except, such a small increase won't help us during the next Ice Age cycle that disables most of the current agricultural production when the temperatures begin to drop as the Ice Age climate develops. By then the technology will have to be ready and the infrastructures created to supply the needs of mankind with indoor agriculture on a vast scale, possibly with facilities stacked up 50 stories high. Prior to this point the enormous unused food-production potential of Africa will likely be developed. In order to enable this development, a series of floating bridges will likely be built across the oceans, made of basalt, connecting all of the world's continents with high speed rail transports for freight. Africa might even be irrigated for agricultural production with diverted waters from the outflow of the Amazon river, transported across the oceans in large-scale submerged basalt pipelines, which might eventually become a global fresh-water network.

The Intercontinental Bridge

None of the above is far fetched. It will happen. Today's big question for society is whether it wants to see this happening in its time, and enjoy the benefits, rather than leaving it up to future ages to develop the human potential that we have the power to realize already today.

So, why do we wallow in poverty, depression, and despair?

The answer is found in society's commitment to its mud-hole culture. It has refused to grow up. It is refusing to even consider the moral line. Oh, it is easy to blame society's tragedy on the mud mentality of its leaders, or as in the case of the USA, to blame the masters of empire who have spent vast sums during election campaigns to bring the most destructive mud kings and traitors into power that money can buy, who are committed and able to destroy the USA in the most effective manner possible, and are doing this, performing their duties well - to eradicate the historic enemy of empire that has been a danger to empire ever since the USA was born and became a free nation. On this ground successive presidents have been 'hired' who have become increasingly destructive, to the point that the end of the nation is now assured by their collective crimes against the nation and humanity, exemplified by the current sitting President, which the nation, and to a large degree the world, cannot survive till the end of his term in office. While the majority of the population is slowly waking up now and would love to see the man, and the ruling traitors in the legislature, to be removed from office, society finds itself nevertheless lacking the moral strength to take the needed steps, even while the very existence of its Republic, and to a large degree its own existence, is at stake.

In conversation recently one fellow wondered with amazement how it has become possible that a single man has amassed the power to destroy an entire nation and the potentially also the world.

No said another, what I find amazing, is that a society of 300 million finds itself unable to dismiss a hired servant, and servants, who have become destructive to it and endanger its very existence.

No, said a third, what I find amazing, is that the USA as a nation that gave its all to free the world of the danger of Nazism, now maintains a Hitler in the White House.

No, said a forth, what I find amazing, is that the very man, Carl Schmidt, who engineered the legal foundation for Hitler's dictatorship rule, has done the same in America with the Unitary Executive doctrine, and that the nation's Supreme Court has openly become 'stocked' with disciples of the doctrine.

No, said a fifth man, what I find amazing, is that a nation that once stood as a beacon of hope for mankind, has saturated its mental house with a death culture focused on the murdering of human beings, such as in killer games, killer movies, and a counterculture that in so many ways makes human living a joke.

The answer to all of these concerns appears to be located in society's sadly lacking awareness of the science of the moral line and the consequent lack of society's self-development on the platform of this science.

The perception of four development paths

It appears that the moral, and spiritual scientific development of society is too complex to be successfully addressed only in terms of four distinct levels and their function. The current near universal failure in society to even deal with the imperatives of the moral line, proves that that a far more extensive scientific spiritual development is needed. Naturally, Mary Baker Eddy has provided the necessary structures for meeting this need.

It was evidently in this context that she divided the wide scene of the foursquare structure into four logical columns in which one can deal with the four levels in a more focused fashion. In the resulting four individual paths the individual self-development is more easily managed, such as developing Truth-focused perceptions as a means for lifting one out of the mud-focused thinking that is choking much of the modern world into impotence, disease, and in many cases even death.

When the foursquare structure is seen in terms of four columns, the individual development paths are explored one by one, even though they are themselves progressive from column to column. Mary Baker Eddy's purpose evidently was to enable in society the much needed scientific and spiritual self-development in the four major contexts of human living, such as beauty, spiritual rights, scientific power, and the development of Science itself.  So, let's explore the for columns with this in mind.

A structure of four development paths

When the foursquare matrix is seen as four columns, other sets of four definitions can be brought to bear as definitions for the columns. One set of these definitions is provided in terms of four rivers, rivers of distinct developmental flows, or flows of unfolding.

Mary Baker Eddy provided the definitions for these rivers in her Glossary by name as the four biblical rivers from Genesis 2. She defines them in the spiritual scientific context that relates them to the four columns when applied in the original biblical sequence. The four rivers are:

  1. Pison (river). The love of the good and beautiful, and their immortality.

  2. Gihon (river). The rights of woman acknowledged morally, civilly, and socially.

  3. Hiddekel (river). Divine Science understood and acknowledged.

  4. Euphrates (river). Divine Science encompassing the universe and man; the true idea of God; a type of the glory which is to come; metaphysics taking the place of physics; the reign of righteousness. The atmosphere of human belief before it accepts sin, sickness, or death; a state of mortal thought, the only error of which is limitation; finity; the opposite of infinity.

Note: The term, "woman," in the second river reflects her statement that "woman is the highest term for man," (from the 1884 edition, defined under the glossary term "Man" referring to generic man). It also reflects the image in Revelation 12 of a "woman clothed with the sun..." The definition of the term, Man, was later restructured with the bulk of it shifted into the chapter Recapitulation, and with the phrase removed that woman is the highest term for man. At some later point, after 1901, the context may have reappeared under the question, What is man? Part of her answer, became: "Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique."

Actually, there have been two additional sets of definitions provided provided by her that set up the context in which the four "rivers" unfold. These provide a high-level description of the city foursquare. They describe the city in terms of four sides, and also with four geographic orientations (for the four rivers flowing out in the four celestial directions.) She writes:

The four 'sides' of our 'city' are: (p. 575)

  1. The Word,

  2. Christ,

  3. Christianity

  4. and divine Science.

She then describes these further in terms of the city's celestial orientation. (p. 575)

  1. Northward, its gates open to the North Star, the Word, the polar magnet of Revelation;

  2. Eastward, to the star seen by the Wisemen of the Orient, who followed it to the manger of Jesus;

  3. Southward, to the genial tropics, with the Southern Cross in the skies, - the Cross of Calvary, which binds human society into solemn union;

  4. Westward, to the grand realization of the Golden Shore of Love and the Peaceful Sea of Harmony.

Note: The sequence in which the orientation is provided by her reflects the sequence of the cycle of the sun through a day, repeated every day.

  1. Northward, begins the dawn,

  2. Eastward, the sunrise,

  3. Southward, the heat of the day is felt,

  4. Westward, the golden sunset unfolds.

In the first Recapitulation question, "What is God?" Mary Baker Eddy gives us another set of four definitions that are also applicable to the four columns. And she gives us four more that relate to the mud-world typified by the Adam mythology. These Adam definitions are of course countered by the four divine definitions respective of God.

  1. God is incorporeal.
Here the name Adam counters this truth with the false supposition "that Life is not eternal, but has beginning and end."

  2. God is divine.
Here the name Adam counters this truth with the false supposition "that intelligence passes into non-intelligence, and that Soul dwells in material sense."

  3. God is supreme.
Here the name Adam counters this truth with the false supposition "that immortal Mind results in matter, and matter in mortal mind."

  4. God is infinite.
Here the name Adam counters this truth with the false supposition "that the one God and creator entered what He created, and then disappeared in the atheism of matter."

So, how do we work with all that?

When the purpose is to address a specific need for healing, one needs to determine where specifically the heart of the problem is located so that it can be most effectively corrected with the specific aspect of truth that counters the specific failure. In some cases more than one aspect can apply.

Let's consider for example, diabetes.

It is officially classified as 'medical' problem for which medical responses have been developed. However, in the majority of the cases the condition has become the collateral result of war. When the prevailing rate climbs in the postwar period from 30 million cases worldwide to 230 million cases, then war is indicated as a potential cause, resulting from the radioactive pollution of the air as the consequence of the massive use of uranium in weapons that became vaporized during the Yugoslav War, the Iraq War, and the Afghanistan War. While the concentration of the resulting diabetes is more dense in or near the war zones, the air pollution spreading like a gas has become a global phenomenon, especially throughout the northern hemisphere. This means that the spiritual healer has to consider the mental background behind these causative factors in addition to the physical factors, especially now that the tragedy created by war will likely be unfolding for thousands of years to come until the radioactive pollution is slowly rained out and the air becomes clean once again.

The intention in war, therefore, remains a factor that needs to be addressed by the healer, for the intention in war is to create conditions that kill people who are classified an enemy. Weapons are created for killing people, or damaging them, or destroying their life by disabling their normal functions. This intention therefore stands in the background that must be addressed by the healer, together with the physical condition of the health problem. The intention to kill is as much a disease in spiritual terms as is the physical disease that results from the intention. To ignore the first factor would then be hypocritical. It would imply that the intention to kill is all right because one can gain a personal exemption from the consequences through prayer. The hypocrisy becomes a blocking factor as it pulls us into opposite directions.

The entire mental background must therefore be addressed. And it can be addressed, because war, just as any other disease, is not a native human quality, or an acquired human quality, because it is not a divine quality that alone defines the human quality. What flows from the divine quality is an appreciations of the beauty and immortality of Life as an aspect of God that is reflected in man, and is legitimately reflected in universal loving, cherishing, supporting, enabling, protecting, and honoring one-another as a divine idea. The great lack of generosity in modern society is not far distant from the intention to kill.

The healing stream for this example would begin in the first column where the river is "Pison" defined as: "The love of the good and beautiful, and their immortality."

In one instance uranium is used in weapons for its excellent effect in killing and harming, so that the healer is facing the task to mentally overcome the very condition that has been intended, and which continues to be the intention as possibly a hundred times more of these weapons are still actively deployed, ready for future use with the same intention. Thus a double healing is required: The healing of society's mud mentality that includes the killing of human beings for evermore insane reasons, and the healing of the resulting physical disease.

The healing resource in both cases lies at the top end of the 'river' where the divine value of the human being comes to light in "the good and beautiful and their immortality." In the flow from tragedy to reality every error in thought and in deed, must (and can) be dealt with in a mental process by which the full face of the human being becomes restored. In a very real sense, the healing of society is thereby included in the healing process.

The healing must therefore include the eradication of the intention to murder and injure, meaning the elimination of war, and the elimination of empire that demands war. Acknowledging the divine rights of man includes nothing less. The attainment of Truth in this regard is typified by John the Revelator who beheld mankind (Rev. 12) as a "woman clothed with the sun, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars" signifying the elimination of much error - the stars of rejoicing). Isn't that what Mary Baker Eddy brings into view in the river Gihon, "the rights of woman acknowledged morally, civilly, and socially?" In this context the second river puts onto the map more fully the divine quality of mankind that the first river gently develops and brings to light. The duality of the first two rivers illustrates to some degree the path by which multifaceted healing can be accomplished.

In some cases the combined paths of all four rivers may be required for pulling oneself (and society) out of the mud hole where no one is really free.

Considering the case of depression and obesity

For example, the healing of depression and obesity, which appear to be related - which in some respects have become a national disease in many a country, in some areas affecting over 40% of the population - may require the paths of all four rivers to be effectively dealt with as numerous factors are feeding into this disease. Nobody really knows what the actual causes are, which are likely many.

Statistics tell us that the percentage of cases has suddenly doubled from the 1980s on and is still increasing, and that the majority of the cases is found in the manual-labor category of employment, probably being concentrated in meaningless or mundane jobs.

So, what happened from the 1980s on? Has the quality of food changed? It is being suggested that the produced food has become nutritionally hollow, so that more is demanded by an individual's body to offset the shortfall. It is possible further that genetically modified food is a factor, which has rapidly proliferated from the 1980s on, for increased cartel profits. It is also possible that the uranium pollution of the air is a factor, which began in the late 1980s. And to top it all off, the general mental background became one of increasing hopelessness, as under the policies of empire, by which the sweeping deindustrialization of the world began, which was initiated for the stated purposes of rendering society more impotent. With the elimination of high-earning, high-skilled jobs, depression tends to set in. This trend is still increasing.

Another depression factor is the environmental insanity that labels mankind a cancer on the earth in order to justify the poverty and depopulation policies that began to be implemented in the 1970s, and are still increasing. Another contributing factor evidently is also the loss of cultural optimism that resulted from the intentional devolution of culture and education under the political watchword of "cultural freedom" (meaning freedom from culture), which even includes the freedom of fascism.

One associated, contributing, hidden factor for depression may also be the increased looting of society by the financial thievery that has become an industry under the name of "investment," deploying money to make money without producing anything of value that would justify the profits of the billionaires. The vast dislocation of wealth through outright thievery by countless clever means is a hugely depressing factor that simmers under the surface.

All of the above are symptoms of the disease of empire that festers in the mud hole that society is evermore dragged into.

The facets of the disease that festers in the mud hole are almost too numerous to be addressed individually. But they must be addressed for the healing of depression and obesity, which themselves are but symptoms of an iceberg that lays underneath. Fortunately they can be addressed, because none of them are factors of the divine reality that is the foundation of our being and which we have the capacity to manifest in our living as the reflections of God. In the divine Universe, and there really is no other universe, every form of disease and whatever lays beneath it is unreal. By upholding what is divinely real, and by taking the wind out of the sails of what is ultimately unreal, our living will invariably (and must of necessity) reflect the scientific realization of what is understood and acknowledged as the Truth, regardless of what appears to be real to the contrary.

Treating the errors before the disease.

In the mental healing of any disease, the mental undercurrents need to be considered and overcome, and this in one's own mental house first and foremost, considering that the physical symptoms are the end result of often a long chain of underlying errors. Often the lie itself becomes the official policy by intention, and is, on this platform, widely used. The official criterion here is called "plausible deniability." In other words, it's OK to lie whenever it is profitable to do so, for as long as the lie can be covered up with the mantle of deniability. The policy "In Lies We Trust" has thereby become a wide-ranging national disease that even the sciences have become subjected to as the global warming hoopla illustrates.

The scientific fact is that the return of the Ice Age is on the near horizon, which sparked a concern in the scientific community in the early 1970s. If the concern had been responded to honestly with the necessary renaissance development of the world that would enable the protection of the global food supply in the coming cold climate, the resulting renaissance would have ended the reign of empire forever. Thus, in order to save their illegitimate colossus, the masters empire thought up a lie to hide the truth. That's how the global warming hoopla was invented in 1974, for which the sciences have been pressed into service to keep the lie going, contrary to the prevailing evidence.

The policy of forcing the devolution of science with the imposition of lies has a long history that goes all way back to the early 1600s when Paolo Sarpi pioneered the process as a policy to protect the Venetian Empire from the renaissance spirit that still lingered in his time and was seen even then as a mortal threat to empire. The policy of utilizing lies (and secrecy as a form of lies) has taken a huge toll in the mental domain of society, diminishing the accepted status of man, so that society now faces the task to recover from an imposed tragedy for which the consequences are becoming increasingly more critical, and are challenging the very survival of civilization.

The global-warming hoax

The danger of the global warming hoax (that currently protects empire) is that it deprives mankind of the opportunity it still has to prepare itself for the return of the Ice Age that is no longer distant on the horizon, towards which the transition may have already begun. The upcoming task of mankind to produce its food recourses from indoor agriculture before the deepfreeze sets in is technologically feasible, but requires massive infrastructure development that may take a century to complete, which might be all the time that we have remaining to us in the current interglacial period of nicely warn and agriculture-friendly climate. But this is in danger. Society's going along with the global-warming hoax is paramount to bringing on the greatest genocide of all times.
(See: Global Warming? - The deadliest fiction ever written )

Of course, one's active participation in a process for intentional near-global genocide is not a good platform for reaching out from, to God, for the healing of disease that itself stands puny in the shadow of genocide. And that's just one of several related tragedies.

The ethanol hoax

A more developed form of causing intentional genocide by starvation is the now worldwide bio-fuel hoax that distills food products into motor fuel in a world in which more than a billion people have been forced into chronic starvation (primarily by the prevention of economic development). Under the heading of the global-warming hoax vast areas of farm land are taken out of food production to produce the farm products for distilling ethanol and bio-diesel. Ethanol is an alcohol fuel that is typically produced by fomenting corn and distilling the alcohol from it. It is expensive to produce, is corrosive to the metals of the fuel system of cars, produces less energy than the gasoline it dilutes, and produces a greater amount of pollution, including toxic alcohol related pollutants, and a greater amount of carbon dioxide that it is supposed to prevent under the global warming dogma. The myth that bio-fuels are an energy resource can only be sustained by accounting fraud, such as omitting the energy costs for the inputs. The only thing that ethanol does effectively is kill people.

The land area that diverted to ethanol production in the USA alone would normally have the capacity to feed a 100 million people. The figures are similar in other areas of the world. This massive burning of food is a crime against humanity in a world in which more than a billion people are subjected to chronic starvation. This starvation could be stopped by stopping the ethanol hoax, and by allowing economic development to occur in the poor countries, as the world's food supply could thereby be doubled with ease.

Christ Jesus once commented in a parable (Matth. 5:23) about this type of problem that now rests on the shoulders of all of us. He spoke of a man who came before the altar of God to offer a gift, but he counseled that if the man had anything outstanding on his account against his brother, he should first settle his debt to his brother and then offer the gift to God. The gift here may be called, embracing divine Truth for the purpose of healing. Becoming engaged in science fraud that involves the intention to murder, evidently weighs heavily against what a healer, or patient, is aiming for. One needs to consider this when pulling up to the gas pump for a fill-up, for one's debt to mankind towards stopping this insanity by healing the world of it, is great.

Science fraud

Science fraud in general falls into this category that Christ Jesus referred to. There is a lot of science fraud going on. Some of the fraud is so subtle that it is hard to detect. It often wears a benign face.

One example is the promise for limitless electric energy supplies by nuclear fusion power. But this is an empty promise as "nuclear fusion power" is a contradiction in language. Nuclear fusion consumes power, rather than producing it. In the process of fusing two atoms together, one of them fissions, by which power is released that is derived from a 'heavy' isotope of hydrogen that had this power invested into it. The only fusion fuel that that can be forced to fuse with enough power input, is a mixture of deuterium and tritium. Neither of these heavy isotopes of hydrogen are readily available. The deuterium exists in sea water in such low quantities that half a million tons of sea water needs to be processed to obtain one ton of 'heavy' water, from which one tenth of a ton of deuterium can be obtained. All of this involves large-scale energy-intensive processes. Tritium in turn does not exist naturally at all, but needs to transmuted from lithium by charging it up with an intense neutron bombardment in a nuclear fission reactor. In other words, every step along the way requires large-scale energy inputs. In addition, the fusion/fission reaction when it can be forced to occur, produces such high-energy neutron radiation that it destroys the reactor vessel in which it is produced. To date, no metal exists that can withstand a needed long-term bombardment of this intensity. Nevertheless the dream of cheap and vast energy is kept alive with the full knowledge that it is but an empty promise. Vast resources are devoted to the project, both in manpower, finance, and materials, while readily available processes are blocked, including processes that have been proved to deliver what fusion only promises, and for which large quantities of fuel are readily available.

The bottom line is that anything that has the potential to promote universal prosperity and development is disallowed by the masters of the mud hole, while the scientific pursuits that are promoted by them are of a type that channel mankind's resources into dead-end pursuits, thereby effectively stealing its future. This path is even more intensely pursued at CERN, the European Nuclear Research Facility, the largest and most complex facility ever created, which is designed to produce nothing at all. It aims to pursue the science fiction dream of an alternate reality, and also to prove that mass is the result of a particle instead of a principle. The project 'consumes' a large assembly of scientific talent from around the world, the largest ever, which thereby become unavailable for tackling the practical challenges that must be solved to meet mankind's physical needs for its existence.
(see: Experiencing Truth )

Obviously all the science fraud serves a sinister purpose. Often the purpose is deeply hidden. The purpose for CERN appears to be to prevent the real development of science, especially that of the electric cosmology that promises infinite energy resources for mankind's use, which the Earth is surrounded with according to all available evidence. In order to prevent this science from being developed, a massive fraud is needed that keeps the Big-Bang cosmology alive that is a fraud itself, which sees a universe in which only gravity rules and electric power does not exist, ignoring the fact the 99.999% of the mass of the Universe exists in the plasma state in which which electric currents flow by the power of natural principles. The Big-Bang theory is needed to maintain the myth in which the sun is seen as a nuclear fusion furnace that is consuming itself and is winding down, just as the masters of empire aim to convince mankind that its fast diminishing prosperity is a natural process of entropy. The goal of this massive science fraud is evidently to keep mankind impotent in its own sight, undeveloped, and easily controlled for the purposes of exploitation as has been the practice of empire since its dawn predating Rome.

In Mary Baker Eddy's days

None of the inhibiting factors stood in her way in her time as they do now. Nevertheless she made honest scientific development the focal point of her fourth river, Euphrates. Of course, most of the fraudulent factors hadn't been in existence in her time, including the sly and subtle one that is choking science today. This choking factor is called "peer review." Before any scientific concept is given the stamp of legitimacy it is subjected to peer review. The process not only renders science controllable by the masters, but also chokes it with the mud of mediocrity. Leading-edge concepts are thereby typically prohibited. Mary Baker Eddy scientific achievements, for example, would never have seen the light of day under the regime of peer review, or consensus-based science as it is also called.

The healing of science of the strangling effect of this mud bath that it got dragged into, is evidently another one of those debts that Christ Jesus referred to that need to be settled before one stands at the altar of God - of Truth - understanding and acknowledging reality.

While the challenges before mankind are far more numerous and immense in scope than in Mary Baker Eddy's time, she presents us a tool that is nevertheless efficient for mastering the challenges. It is found as a profound declaration that is imbedded in her definition for the river Euphrates

As is plainly apparent, the definitions comes in two parts, which, however, in the spiritual sense, are indivisible and are really one single definition. And this is where the key lays. The first part defines divine Science as being developed to its highest divine manifest, while the second part keeps this highest regime nevertheless accessible to universal humanity, even in an atmosphere of human perception where the belief in limitation and finity has not yet been ruled out but remains as the only (or final) fault.

Without divine Science placing us at the edge to the infinite domain, the scene of mankind's world would be a hopeless scene indeed. It would imply that the qualities of God are not accessible and demonstrable in practical terms in the form of "metaphysics taking the place of physics," and in "the reign of righteousness." It would also imply that Christ Jesus could not have been able to heal, nor Mary Baker Eddy likewise, or anyone else for that matter. But this has not been the case. Instead, great events of healing have happened, and are still happening, and are bound to be happening for evermore.

Mankind is not a helpless worm

It is not legitimate for mankind to grovel in the dust and submit to its destroyer, whether it be disease, fascism, poverty, or whatever. To do so amounts to an active denial of God in human living. The great challenge that divine Science places before mankind, is to master its sense of finity and limitation, and thus become divinely human in all respects. This is not a small challenge, of course, but one, as has been well demonstrated, we all have the capacity to meet. In fact, healing in divine Science is not merely a process for the restoration of health, but is a process that uplifts the entire front of human living to ever-fuller expressions of the divine nature. If this isn't the healing goal in all respects, we are cheating ourselves and may not realize anything, for the focus then is not high enough and not close enough to the Truth.

The Factor of "ALL"

The healing focus must also include the uplifting of the civilization of our human world, creating a new and richer world, individually and collectively, for divine Principle is universal in its expression. Omitting this element in our healing pursuits would be a form of denial of the universal nature of Principle, and thereby of divine Principle itself. In Mary Baker Eddy's glossary definition of the term God, one aspect is repeated over and over as if to drive the point home, and this is the universal aspect, "all."

If this is ignored and not reflected in what we call civilization, the term civilization does not really apply, for to take the "all" out of our relationship to one another amounts to a huge kick into the face of God. The kick of indifference that allows murder, theft, destruction, looting, lies, which has become the hallmark of the mud hole, is a declaration that God that is all and is reflected in all, is dead and never existed. Thus wars are unleashed, countries destroyed, industries eradicated, cultures undermined, entire nations looted to the bone, prosperity flushed down the drain leaving poverty, to the point that fascism reigns unrestrained. On this path society destroys itself by denying the very platform for its existence. This insanity threatens everyone in the mud hole, the masters and the 'children' alike. Hence the need to become conscious of the universal nature of the spiritual Universe where nothing, or no one, is, or can be, excluded.

At the moral level the kick of indifference is still a part of the scene, even of the scene dubbed "Christianity." The Principle of Universal Love is largely banned there. Love is small there, privatized, circumscribed, conditionalized, shut out of sight by traditions and greed, the and practice of completion rather than cooperation, with the scene still being generally encumbered with indifference. Only at the Christ level the divine universality, the "all," is rapidly coming to light in human consciousness and indifference falls away. This is the zone where healing begins, in Jesus' days as in our days. Time is not a factor here, but our responding to the "all" is. And this is a wide scene where this factor is unfolding.

It is challenging to even theoretically uplift one's loving into the universal domain to reflect the Principle of Universal divine Love. I had started writing a novel in the 1980s to explore the dimension of the Principle of Universal Love. The subject turned out to be far wider than I had imagined. The novel became a series of 12 novels (The Lodging for the Rose), so vast is this subject and its challenges as mankind has become deeply encumbered by its traditions and narrow perceptions, surrounded by limits and finity on all sides.

Nevertheless, the universal factor is an essential factor in healing, and its being ignored appears to be reflected in the numerous critical critical problems as society's inner collapse proceeds. The opposite is also evident. Many who are deeply committed to the universal welfare of mankind tend to enjoy a healthier and more vigorous existence. For example, the celebrated civil rights heroin Amelia Boynton Robinson, was still giving speeches at the age of near 100. Lyndon LaRouche, America's leading economist and political activist for the Principle of the General Welfare, now approaching 88 years of age,  is still active, routinely making four-hour speeches, organizing international meetings, and advancing scientific perceptions . Mary Baker Eddy, herself, founded the Christian Science Monitor, a major newspaper, at the age of 87. While age itself isn't the key factor here, the devotion to the divine "all" - to universal good - is evidently a healthy and health-giving factor in individual living, just as it had been a factor for spiritual healing across the ages and still is.

It is also interesting to note in this context that the period leading up to Mary Baker Eddy's discovery in 1866, in which the divine "all" became a leading feature, coincides with the unfolding of the only major period of peace in the world since the end of the Golden Renaissance - which ended shortly after her death in December 1910. While it is impossible to determine what would have happened in the world had her discovery not been made and been extensively developed, the conscience of the period of her pioneering work with a great period of peace, coinciding almost to the year, is nevertheless remarkable. It might also be highly significant. One simply has no empirical evidence of what the world would have been like had profound events not occurred, that have occurred. Nevertheless it is not illogical to assume that the occurrence of great spiritual events with a universal focus at their root, did have put their stamp on time in a manner that has changed the world, dynamically, for a season, especially for as long as the driving force behind these events was strong. This too, reflects the principle of "metaphysics taking the place of physics."

For this reason I have emphasized the need for strengthening our healing focus in the universal dimension in many of the explorations on this page, as the divine factor of "all" cannot be ignored in the healing context, but has evidently far-more deep-reaching implications than we tend to acknowledge.

Still, we do have some empirical evidence that society's focus on the factor of "all" has an uplifting effect. The evidence is rather strong and glaring when we look at what has resulted from ignoring this factor, or from society's willful moving against it. We find this evidence in the coincidence of two related trends: 1 - the vast and rapid proliferation of millionaires and billionaires in society. 2 - the almost universal and rapid collapse of civilization on every critical front, including culture, education, employment, housing, science, energy, finance, transportation, food security, social security, health care, the rise of war and fascism and hostilities, de-industrialization, environmental collapse, and so on. Both trends unfolded in lock-step with each other. It is illogical to assume that there is no connection between the two.

The first trend reflects a growing denial of the factor of "all" in the perception of good.  The proliferation of millionaires and billionaires in society reflects a commitment in society to stealing from one another, which is manifest in the privatization of the general wealth of society instead the promotion of the wealth of "all" as a quality of good.  The second trend reflects the outcome of the first trend. And so it will always be until the connection is recognized, whereby society impels itself to climb out of its self-created mud hole. Right now one sees no evidence that society is inclined to move in this direction, or is even remotely interested in healing itself of the deeply rooted disease that has festered for millennia already and has become more deadly to it in numbers than all the diseases in history combined. More than a billion people are presently forced to live in chronic starvation with an increasingly shorter life-span, and the current trend is for their ranks to grow into four or five billion as more and more of society's infrastructures for living become privatized and destroyed, and the ranks of the billionaires expand.

The factor of "all" is imbedded in what has long been termed the Golden Rule, or the Divine Rule, a rule that wisdom has expressed throughout the ages: "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The Golden Rule is not an empty rule, but a statement of the nature of power in human affairs; an acknowledgment of the "all" as an inseparable element of good.  Mary Baker Eddy focused on the primary importance of the Golden Rule in dedicatory message for the dedication of the great "temple of Christian Science" in Boston (on June 10, 1906), saying to the thirty thousand who had come for the ceremony:

...Christian Science comes to reveal man as God's image, His idea, coexistent with Him - God giving all and man having all that God gives.  Whence, then, came the creation of matter, sin, and death, mortal pride and power, prestige or privilege?  The First Commandment of the Hebrew Decalogue, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me," and the Golden Rule are the all-in-all of Christian Science.  They are the spiritual idealism and realism which, when realized, constitute a Christian Scientist... (My. 5)

She incorporated the Golden Rule, as it were a summary, into the last tenet of Christian Science, which is also the last paragraph of her class book that she used until it came a chapter of the textbook, the chapter Recapitulation, the last chapter in Science and Health.

Until recently one has seen little evidence that society has shown any willingness to move in this direction, but the tide appears to be changing. While kings of the thieves now own much of the world, including the governments of many nations, and have done their utmost by controlling the media and entertainment, to prevent society from discovering itself in its divine qualities, a trend has been unfolding, faint as it may be, into a new direction towards the truth of being and its divine principles. Over the years four types of society have come to the foreground in various stages that are reflective of the four levels that are expressed in each of the four columns of the foursquare structure.

The lowest level, of course, represents the mud-hole-captivated society. It requires no further exploration.

At the level above, the moral level, we find the so-called socialist society. It aims to correct the grosses feature of the mud-hole world, by stealing back from the wealthy what the wealthy have stolen from society. Its features a slight sense of the principle of "all" as a component of good. But it remains committed to stealing.

At the next higher level, the Christ level, the level of science and spiritual recognition, various types of attempts have been made to supplant the process of stealing wealth with the process of wealth-creation, which is strongly focused onto the Principle of the General Welfare, reflecting  to some degree the divine "all" principle. The Federal Constitution of the USA reflects a very strong commitment in this direction, perhaps the strongest in the world. The communist intention is leaning in that direction, but falls far short of implementing it as it lacks the underlying commitment to the development of the human genius as such a development endangers the structure of a totalitarian system. There were times in American history when the U.S. society was strongly committed to the development of the human genius and the divine factor of "all" on as wide a basis as possible. Those were typically times of prosperity, brief as they were in duration.

At the top-level, the level of divine Spirit, we have the great potential that is slowly becoming recognized that is inherent in the divine nature of man as a creator and producer, and above all a scientific being with a thereby near infinite capability of creative and productive power, and a commitment to its expression for the good of all mankind, such as we find it expressed in the development of great projects for the universal benefit of all mankind. An example of this type is the NAWAPA project for uplifting the entire biosphere in which we live, by greening the deserts, and not only in the geographic sense, but also socially, technologically, scientifically, and economically where many 'desert areas' now exist. Another global development project that has been tossed around for many decades already to create an infrastructure link across the Bearing Straight, between the American and Eurasian Continents, either with a bridge or a tunnel, for the more-efficient cooperative development of both continents. With advancing technological power the concept of intercontinental bridges is becoming increasingly realizable, which may inspire society one day to uplift itself sufficiently to utilize its capability to create a new and incredibly rich world for itself, were misery and poverty presently rule. The divine factor of the "all" stands squarely at the center of the door to this new world. Of course, whether we will see the realization of the potential that we presently have, depends on our own answer to this question that will determine our motives and acts.

When the foursquare structure is seen as a 'global' structure

With the rows and columns defined, it becomes useful for us to apply all the associated 'global' structures that Mary Baker Eddy has provided for the foursquare structure. There are two types of them. The development type and the platform type.

The foursquare structure can been seen as a structure of individual elements that inherit the characteristic of the level (or row) at which they are located, and also the characteristics of the column that they are a part of. In this context large structures can be globally associated with the foursquare structure in a manner that gives each element a special meaning.

There exist two types of structures that can be associated with the foursquare structure in a global manner. One type is a structure that is internally arranged in a developmental type of sequence where the sequence begins with the lowest element, progressing upwards. The other type of structure is one that is arranged in a platform-type fashion were the sequence begins with the highest element, progressing downward to what lies below. Mary Baker Eddy utilized both types.

Applying the development-type structures

The application of development-type structures logically begins at the lowest element in the first column and end with the highest element in the last column.

Mary Baker Eddy provided three major development-type structures that cover all 16 elements. These are:

  1. The 16 verses and illustrations in Christ and Christmas,

  2. The 16 textbook chapters

  3. The 16 stanzas of the Lord's prayer, with the spiritual sense added, (S&H p.16-17)

The three associated structures are shown applied below, associated element by element in their respective sequence.

One practical utility for this type of association comes to light, for example, when a textbook citation appears in the Bible Lessons, whereby the textbook citation can be located in respect to its relationship to the scientific development structure, both in terms of its 'cardinal point' and in terms of the logical river it belongs to, as is shown below, which greatly enhances the citation's meaning.

In addition the applicable stanza of the Lord's Prayer is thereby associated with the citation, and likewise the applicable metaphor from Christ and Christmas, both visually and by verse. With the addition of these backgrounds, the meaning of a textbook citation is still further enhanced.

Applying the platform-type structures

The application of platform type of associated structures begins with the highest element and sequences down row by row to the lowest element as shown below.

Mary Baker Eddy provided two major platform structures in the textbook:

One platform is made up of the entire chapter, RECAPITULATION, which she provided in the form 24 questions and answers, which when grouped into groups of two, will cover the top 12 elements as shown above. With these we have the 26 Bible lessons topics associated in the same manner. The two groups match, because two of the recapitulation questions address a double topic, whereby the two extra lesson topics can be associated with the recapitulation platform. In addition Mary Baker Eddy provided a corresponding 26-part counter-platform in the glossary definition for the term ADAM. These correspond with both the lesson topics and Recapitulation, by which the tragic Adam mythology is overturned in practical perception.
(for more, see:
about the Bible Lessons structure

The second platform that Mary Baker Eddy provided is the 32-part "Christian Science Platform" in the chapter SCIENCE OF BEING. This platform, when divided into groups of two, covers all of the 16 elements of the foursquare structure in the manner shown above. Associated with these is the 16 part glossary definition of the term, "Mortal Mind," and also the 16 part structure of the 16 segments of the Church Manual (for a total of 32).

Since the Church Manual is provided in a progressive sequence, its elements are applied in this association in the sequence of a progression, as shown below.

(For more, see: about the Christian Science Platform structure

In addition to all this
A power tool: The Glossary Structure

As if this was not enough, Mary Bake Eddy provided for one more structural association, which is the global association of her 144 part Glossary Structure, which is a major subject all by itself, and an essential subject, which is presented below in an overview fashion.

The Glossary Structure

There remains one major associated structure, and this one is huge. It is the Glossary structure.

The Glossary of Mary Baker Eddy's textbook of Christian Science contains a large list of terms with definitions provided by her, which when they become associated with her foursquare pedagogical structure encourage the pondering of vastly significant concepts that otherwise would not come into view. Naturally, like every other major work by Mary Baker Eddy the Glossary is structurally directly related to her foursquare pedagogical structure. Since the structure itself is related to the biblical city foursquare from Revelation 21 which speaks of a measure for it in Chapter 17, of 144 (cubits), one would expect that the Glossary reflects this metaphor. At first glance this is not the case. (See the appendix for the list of Glossary terms and their definition)

However, the metaphor can be seen to be reflected in the Glossary if one recognizes that the Glossary contains multiple definitions for some terms, giving a term diverse meanings in respect to the context in which it is used. Various types of multiple definitions can be recognized. In most cases they are presented as two separate sentences in the same paragraph. In few cases they are presented in separate paragraphs, indicating the existence of different types for different purposes. One type uses a linguistic association of concepts. In another type spiritual factors supersede that apparent physical factors as this is common in the metaphysics of Christian Science.

With all of these factors considered the Glossary can come to light as a structure of 144 terms, for a possible nine terms per element (9x16=144) extended uniformly throughout the entire structure. This uniformity can be seen to reflect a principle that is manifest throughout the structure, just as God, Principle, is reflected in all aspects throughout the universe and mankind. It appears to be important that the basic form of the structure for exploring divine Science reflects the singularity of Principle throughout the structure.

Such a configuration can be obtained. The 9x16 form allows for the perception in each element of four 'horizontal' terms (in the sense of the rows) and four vertical terms (in the sense of the columns), with a central term that the surrounding ideas 'flow towards' and reflect.

The pattern shown here can be seen woven into the carpet in the painting Truth versus Error. The 9x16 dimension is also incorporated into the symbolism of the crown in the painting The Way in Christ and Christmas.

The crown (enlarged above) shows 9 jewels in frontal view, which can be seen to represent the nine elements of the substructure above. When this pattern is extended all around, the same crown comes to view as containing 16 jewels.

The frontal view also shows a five-pointed crown.  In order to obtain 144 definitions from the Glossary as noted earlier it needs to be recognized that the various multiple definitions can be grouped into 5 types, or five unique aspects of the principle pertaining to the duality of expression. One can recognize five different types of concepts that all come with unique characteristics attached. These are the 5 types possible in the world for recognizing the duality of concepts for a specific term. Mary Baker Eddy's glossary for her textbook includes all 5 types.

Mary Baker Eddy also provided a corresponding set of 5 terms describing God in her glossary definition for the terms, "God." These terms define God as:

1 - all-knowing,

2 - all-seeing,

3 - all-acting,

4 - all-wise,

5 - all-loving,

These can be seen to correspond with the five types of dual definitions as suggested below.

The simplest of the five types of dual definitions is the contrasting type, where two opposites concepts of the same term are defined. Mary Baker Eddy's convention became that the two opposite concepts are defined in separate sentences, but in the same paragraph.

Note: This convention was introduced quite late, after 1901. In 1901 all the opposites were presented in a single sentence, with the principle of separation to be determined by the researcher. In very early times, in 1884, the dual concepts were expressed in multiple sentences.  The clearer convention might have been introduced in conjunction with her addition of the term Night (darkness; doubt; fear), which was not a part of the Glossary in 1901, as if she was saying by adding the term Night, "Is your thinking so limited that I have to spell things out for you?"

There are two groups of this type of terms in the Glossary with eight terms in each group (2 terms from each group per column, reflecting the universality of Principle).

The two groups are distinguished by their total or somewhat softer contrast respectively. The duality of terms with a total contrast, presenting complete opposites, evidently are designed to be represented on opposite rows in the same column, while the terms with the softer contrast appear to be designed to be represented in two adjacent rows in the same column.

The oppositely-separated group of terms contains the terms: Jerusalem, Rock, Son, Sword, Wine, Wind, Zeal, Zion. (See Zion as an example:)

"Zion. Spiritual foundation and superstructure; inspiration; spiritual strength. Emptiness; unfaithfulness; desolation."

The softly-contrasting group contains the terms: Believing, Benjamin, Children, Jacob, Lord, Tithe, Wilderness, and Will.

Note: For two terms in the soft contrasting group, for the terms "Benjamin" and "Children," the duality is presented in separate paragraphs, suggesting the existence of a special interrelationship between the two.

For both cases of the vertically separated type, may I suggest that the definition for God as "all-acting" can be applied, because God is the acting power on all perceivable levels where we may find our experience and struggles located.

Another of the five types of dual-definitions is the horizontal dual-definition. Here no contrast is shown, but in every case the dual concepts are presented by Mary Baker Eddy separated into two  different paragraphs. (The separation into separate paragraphs can be seen to indicates their standing side by side).

Three dual-definitions belong to this unique type. These are the definitions for the terms: Adam, Ark, and Church.

May I suggest that the definition for God as "all-seeing" can be applied, because the horizontal separation of the term widens the view. It lets us see a wider horizon.

A third type can be recognized in which the vertical duality is superimposed with a shared modifying characteristic.

Only a single term, the term, "Son, "has been given such a dual definition, defined below, in which the modifier is "Son of a year."

Son. The Son of God, the Messiah or Christ. The son of man, the offspring of the flesh. "Son of a year."

Mary Baker Eddy defines the concept "Son of a year" saying: "In the Hebrew text, the word 'son' is defined variously; a month is called the son of a year.  This term, as applied to man, is used in both a material and a spiritual sense." (Miscellaneous Writings p.180)

I would like to suggest that the definition for God as "all-knowing" can be applied here, because God is infinite Intelligence, an intelligence of great depth.

Another unique type of the 5 types of dual definition is the undividable type.

These are a type of dual definition where two distinct aspects are defined, but which depend on one another or else the spiritual sense is lost. The physical evidence suggests that the dual parts should be separated, while the spiritual evidence suggests that they must be kept together. In these cases the spiritual evidence can be deemed to supersede the physical evidence, such as is typical in the healing processes of the metaphysics of divine Science.

The terms that are so defined are, Burial, Devil, and Euphrates. The definition for Euphrates is especially enigmatic in this respect. Its first part of the definition of this river speaks of "divine Science encompassing the universe and man." The second part speaks of the highest strata in human thinking, "The atmosphere of human belief before it accepts sin, sickness, or death; a state of mortal thought, the only error of which is limitation; finity; the opposite of infinity." What she puts on the table here for mankind to ponder is the simple fact that Science is a divine reflection in mankind. It is the renaissance that unfolds in the atmosphere of human belief and uplifts it to the apprehension of divine ideas. It unfolds in mortal thought that is encumbered with a sense of finity and limitation and takes it out of its encumberment into the boundless realm of spiritual reality, the realm of the Sublime. What I hear Mary Baker Eddy saying here is that divine Science is the key that opens the limited human realm and mortal sense to the divine sense of the limitless spiritual reality. This link cannot be broken or else the divine realm remains closed.

Here I would like to suggest that the definition for God as "all-wise" can be applied, because God is invariably recognizing spiritual evidence as the only valid factor, something that we need to do likewise if we would be wise.

The fifth type of dual-definition that can be identified is that in which a duality is defined in a single sentence (which cannot be separated) but which trends into opposite directions depending on external factors, such as ones perception, as in the case of the definition of Earth: "To material sense, earth is matter; to spiritual sense, it is a compound idea."

Four terms are defined in this manner. The terms are, Earth, Evening, River, and Temple.

May I suggest that the definition for God as "all-loving" applies here, because no matter which way we drift and how deeply we fall into the mud, God is Love, and uplifting impetus in every situation.

Four Glossary terms fit this category, one for each column. These specific terms fulfill the need for having a dividing line that spans across the moral domain (the "transitional" domain). With these four terms shared on the dividing line, the lower three rows can be logically divided into two halves of 56 definitions each (or 14 per column in each half -- seven to be seen to relate to Mary Baker Eddy's seven synonyms for God in the Glossary: "Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love" with the remaining seven becoming correlated with the seven days of creation from Genesis 1 (see Appendix for details).

The division of the foursquare structure into three parts, shown above, is symbolically indicated in the tablet that we find in the woman's lap in the second half of the painting Christmas Eve found in Christ and Christmas.

The tablet also indicates a major division down the center of the foursquare structure by which the right half can be deemed to pertain to Church, and the left half to Temple. Mary Baker Eddy refers to the Church-Temple distinction in her dedication address of the Extension of the Mother Church, which she refers to as a "temple." (Miscellany p.6)

Our 'Third Sex'?

The division into Temple and Church, comprising two columns each, can be seen to have a significance for society's sexual self-perception, which is generally focused on the male-female division. While this division exists in the physical sphere, unfolding in distinct sovereign forms of physical individuality, in the sphere of Spirit the two sexes become less primary in the light of the all-inclusive singularity of Spirit, our third type of 'sex' that is neither male nor female, which is defined in Mary Baker Eddy's definition of "Temple" as incorporating a spiritual quality that is itself incorporeal and divine, and which is further defined in the definition of "Church" as being supreme in nature and infinite in design. These qualities in which we find our 'third sex' are qualities of God, which are our qualities by reflection. Thus we celebrate these respective quality-dimensions in the Temple, and explore their respective dimension in the structure of Church.

In the Temple, the celebration of our 'third sex' takes on the nature of a celebration of God that is defined by Mary Baker Eddy as "incorporeal, divine, supreme," and "infinite." These unfold in the channels of spiritual recognition and acceptance.

. .

In divine Science, Church is an institution of discovery, and thereby for the exploration of our 'third sex' (our spiritual identity) -- its dimension being "supreme" and "infinite," It unfolds correlatively in the channels of spiritual understanding and acknowledgement.

In these channels (grouped as celebration in the Temple and scientific discovery in Church) the Sublime (the divine) nature of our humanity is being brought to light.

These cannels are supported by all the associated structures, by which they gain added significance. Naturally this Sublime identity of mankind as rooted in divine Spirit also uplifts the physical sphere with various reflective spiritual qualities, such as individual completeness, harmony, health, beauty, sublimity, strength, and so on.

The symbol for completeness

The number 56 mentioned above (in reference to a dividing line across the moral domain) is a number that is likewise defined in symbolic metaphor. There are 56 rays of light shown surrounding the seven pointed star on the cover of Christ and Christmas. Mary Baker Eddy's modern symbolism is of a different crown that brings the seven-pointed star to the crown that is deeply linked to this 56-part aspect.  The modern crown (part of the cross and seal after 1902) now shows the five-pointed crown being topped with seven-pointed stars, emphasizing both the 5 and 7 dimensions.

. .

The ordering of the 144 Glossary terms with the variously recognized parameters in mind is not a simple task. It demands one to dig deep into the science involved. The number of possible combinations, if one were to count them, would add up to a decimal number 250 digits long. That's infinity for all practical purposes. I have added an example of what can result on this basis of spiritually defined scientific ordering:

Example of the completed 144 element matrix.

The practical application

The question to comes to mind from looking at this vast complexity: Why would one bother? The answer becomes evermore: Because it is necessary for our survival in the currently fast disintegrating world. The currently ongoing world-financial disintegration all by itself threatens to take the global house down. While policy options are possible to avert disaster, the needed policies are blocked with monumental insanity that society shows no interest in countering, but rather tends to support. This means that the future of society and its very existence to a large degree, is not fundamentally a technical issue, but is a spiritual issue, which is essentially an issue of developing the dynamics of love. That this is so is found in what is Not found. It is found in this case in the Glossary structure, and specifically in what is conspicuously missing there. Three terms are missing that should be there. Of her seven synonymous terms for God three terms are not defined in the Glossary, as if these three critical terms can only be defined by the entire structure as a whole. These critical, 'outstanding' terms, are Love, Truth, and Soul.

If one follows these types of 'breadcrumbs' that she laid out for discovery, one ends up with the recognition that her entire life-work was focused on one thing, the discovery of the dynamics of love. All the 'threads' that one discovers, that she laid out, converge at one focal-point, the dynamics of love that she presented actually as a triad, consisting of Love, Truth, and Soul - manifest as love built on acknowledged truth, nourishing the soul of our humanity in which love is expressed and its flow is anchored. She didn't flaunt this triad, but she did built her church edifice on a triangular plot. In a geometric triangle no sides are opposite. She unveiled a dynamics here in which Truth, Love, and Soul are absolute, not balanced against opposites as in almost all religions and ideologies. The astonishing experiences of healing that are attributed to Mary Baker Eddy and her work are evidently the result of the dynamics of this triad that is centered on the flow of love as the grand gem in human experience and in civilization and an impetus for healing. She never suggested that a compromise is wise, though it appears wise and often unavoidable before the power of the absolute dynamics is sufficiently developed. With this she also suggests that universal peace and universal prosperity cannot be won on any lesser platform, since those lesser platforms are inherently platforms of compromises.

Recognizing that all human development is inherently a spiritual issue should lead to profound cultural measures, even a cultural renewal of society. At the present moment we are far from that. If anything, society is working against itself. A recovery from this position requires a strong scientific approach in spiritual science, or divine Science for the development of the full flow of love, just to get us away from the current precipice.

To bring the future to bear on the present

This is what Mary Baker Eddy's pedagogical work is designed to enable. It is a work that documents the future. Divine Science, the science of Spirit, the science of all that is Sublime, documents the future. The scientific reality that it presents is the reality of Spirit, which defines the future and the present. This reality will unfold inevitably and determine the future, because the reality of Spirit is the only reality there is, reflected in the universe and man. The scientific understanding of this reality is inevitable. While the present understanding of it is far from being sufficient, society no longer stands hopeless in the shadow of the currently onrushing crisis that threatens to become the worst in recorded history. The option now exists to take what is inevitable in the future and bring it bear on the present by rapidly advancing the scientific process of our spiritual development, which thereby brings the future potentially into the present.

One of the tools that Mary Baker Eddy has designed for this process id the weekly Bible Lesson Sermon. Mary Baker Eddy has 'ordained' the Bible and her textbook as the pastor in all churches of Christ Scientists. The topics are predefined by her, and the citations for it are prepared by a central committee and published well in advance. The setup enables the topics to be studied prior to the Sunday service, which then becomes a celebration (in the Temple). The Church process unfolds throughout the week, individually, and in a far richer manner in terms of exploration than any sermon ever preached could possibly provide. How rich the exploration process can become is shown in the diagram below of the vast resources that are available as a background for any textbook citation, which gives the citation and the lesson a whole new and profound meaning. Also, what unfolds here doesn't come as brainwashing from a preacher's mouth. Whatever is discovered here, in Church, comes from ones own understanding and ones own acknowledgement of the reality of ones being which is forever spiritually defined.

Since every textbook citation belongs to a specific chapter, the specific location of the chapter on the foursquare structure determines the specific element of the applicable resource (the specific verse and painting from Christ and Christmas, and the specific stanza form the Lord's Prayer, etc.). The Bible Lesson has thereby a greatly enhanced potential for scientific and spiritual exploration.

In addition to the above, the Church Manual can also be seen as a resource. Inversely, the above can also be seen as a resource for understanding the Church Manual in terms of its value for society's universal self-government.

An online version of the historic 1889 set of the Bible lessons is available that incorporates applicable elements from a number of the above-shown associated structures. The Online Bible Lessons can be found on the home page: Divine Science HOME

The resources that Mary Baker Eddy has provided for the Bible lessons appear to be inexhaustible. But will they be applied? On this question hangs the future, or doom, of mankind. The doom can be avoided so that mankind can have a future. The policies are simple. But will the spiritual steps be taken so that the policies become adapted and be implemented?

Will Mary Baker Eddy's pedagogical structure determine the future?

Most likely it will. She laid a wide range of critical choices before society with her pedagogical platform, unfolding with the process of working with the structure. The work that she accomplished is complete. It took a hundred years for it to be discovered. The process of working with the discovery has only begun. The process will determine the future, which will be determined by spiritual issues. On this front Mary Baker Eddy is still the world leader. No other path than divine Science will resolve the world's critical spiritual issues. She laid a foundation that society can build on, which itself was built on discovery and revelation. This work doesn't need to be redone, so it won't be redone. Any attempt to do so would be a denial of the process of unfolding of the divine Spirit reflected in man. The building can only go forward, and so it will. That much is certain. Only the speed with which it may happen remains yet to be determined, and that will determine the fate of society. For the time being there is little interest and almost no support for it, which has become a universal pattern of society having no interest in protecting and advancing its welfare, even its existence. It may well be that society has become so indifferent to itself that it allows itself to go to hell in the near term and that in a few centuries or after the next Ice Age in a 100,000 years, mankind will recover itself and proceed with what we have the capability to do right now. One way or another, the potential that exists will be realized. The difference is whether we will see it happening in our time and commence living in the sunshine of its unfolding. And that, of course, depends on what we all individually do to assure that what we want to see will happen.

Mary Baker Eddy saw the beginning stages of it. Her textbook all by itself has healed countless thousands. Now, we have infinitely more to work with than the people had at her time. I would say the future looks bright with a vast unrealized potential before us that beckons society to open the door to it.
